Based between Birmingham and London, UK, Vezoom Games is a one-man indie studio founded by Matt Hutchings. With a passion for retro-inspired horror games, Matt combines his love for gaming with a deep appreciation for 90s nostalgia. Vezoom Games is dedicated to delivering immersive and atmospheric experiences, where every detail—whether it's pixelated visuals or intricate puzzles—adds to the tension and excitement.
Matt has a background in filmmaking, having previously worked as a Music Video Director as well as an animator and visual effects artist for film and television. His youtube boasts a range of exciting horror shorts, and he has a real love for the genre.
Now, as a first-time developer, Matt has worked tirelessly to bring Retro Horror Story to life, using every resource and ounce of creativity at his disposal. While this is Vezoom Games' debut title, it marks the beginning of a thrilling journey with many more projects planned for the future.
PERSONAL STATEMENT FROM THE DEVELOPER - MATT HUTCHINGS
I'm incredibly excited to finally share Retro Horror Story with players. As a lifelong fan of classic 90’s games, I’ve always been drawn to the simple yet terrifying experiences of that era. With this game, I wanted to capture that same feeling! Something that evokes classic 90s horror while incorporating more modern 'internet-culture' influences like creepypastas and analog horror.
I aimed to make Retro Horror Story a short but intense experience; a fun, thrilling ride, much like a haunted house or ghost train at a theme park. Pretty much everything you see, hear, and interact with in the game has been crafted by me, from the sound design & music to the visuals. It’s a deeply personal project, born from my passion for creating memorable, bite-sized horror experiences.
In addition to game development, I also work as a filmmaker and produce found-footage horror videos on YouTube. In fact, this game started as a short film before evolving into the project you’re playing today. I’ve got plenty more in store, and I can’t wait to share my future work!
